Should Authors Have Blogs?

Spoiler Alert: Yes.

I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with my friend, Lana who is an author and is connected to a community of authors online.  We chatted through the pros of authors having a blog.

One of the reasons I am so passionate about this subject is that I was contacted by a publisher nearly 10 years ago BECAUSE I had a blog.  This connection turned into the first book, 101 Kids Activities that are the Bestest, Funnest Ever! which is still in print today.  It had not occurred to me at the time that I would ever write a book but the publisher made it clear that it was because I had an online community that they wanted me as an author.  An online community is more than just a way to sell books.  Blogging gives authors instant feedback from their community and the ability to talk beyond the cover of book topics.

For more information about how authors use blogs <--I wrote about it on Pagewheel.
